| 50 Cent Being Sued For Mixtape Track Posted: 21 Apr 2012 01:48 PM PDT Not even free projects can steer free of lawsuits. 50 Cent is being sued by Robert Poindexter of The Persuaders for the track “Redrum”, a track that appeared on his 2009 free project War Angel. 50 Cent sampled “Love Gonna Pack Up and Walk Out” for “Redrum” and now the copyright holders of the song are seeking $600,000 in damages: “Fifty Cents [sic] has not denied the infringement, but appears to be basing his defense solely on a frivolous and immaterial claim that the illegal version is not being commercially exploited, but is given away for free.” Since 50 Cent has not profited off the project, we’ll just have to wait and see how this situation unfolds.
